Art Dornfeld is living a life of service to his country and his community.
Art was born in 1964 in Abington, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Quakertown, PA. He joined the US Navy in 1982. He and his wife, Diana, have been married for 36 years. Their daughter, Sarah, was born in 1991 while Art and Diana were stationed in Meridian, Mississippi. Art retired from the Navy in 2004, and he and his family moved to Brunswick County that same year. Where Art's family grew when his daughter met Art's fantastic son in law later on Art took on his proudest title grandpa.
Art Proudly Served His Country
Art joined the US Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman. He wanted to advance his career and did so by training for and becoming a Search and Rescue Inflight Medical Technician, flying in both H-1 and H-46 helicopters, and logging a total of 8000 flight hours. He proudly served on both Navy and Marine Corps Search and Rescue teams and was part of many military and civilian search and rescue missions. During his time at his last duty station, MCAS Cherry Point, Art served as the senior Search and Rescue Medical Technician on the Pedro SAR Helicopter and the Type Commander Evaluator. Art also had the responsibility of being the Senior Enlisted Leader of 7 Outpatient Care Clinics at the Naval Hospital Cherry Point. Mentoring the Junior Enlisted sailors was a highlight of his career. Art also served Craven County as a volunteer with the fire department as a medic.
Art Proudly Served Brunswick County
Shortly after moving to Brunswick County in 2004, Art sought out a way to serve his new community. Joining the Shallotte Volunteer Rescue Squad as a paramedic was the perfect fit. Eventually, he was hired by Brunswick County Emergency Services as a paramedic. He served for 15 years and is grateful for the time he spent working as a paramedic for our county.

In 1994, Art's father, along with two retired Doctors, started a swimming pool maintenance company called Carolina Sun Pool Doctors. Art became a co-owner of the company in 2004. In 2015, Art and Diana became sole proprietors. It is a pleasure to serve both the residents of Brunswick County and the many visitors/vacationers who visit our beautiful County. Carolina Sun Pool Doctors has grown tremendously over the past 31 years. We owe our success to 12 dedicated employees and 215 valued customers.

Art has been a resident of Shallotte for 21 years and understands the concerns of the residents of our town. He is dedicated to being fiscally responsible with your tax dollars, working closely with the Board of Aldermen and the town staff, ensuring your hard-earned money is respected and spent wisely. Art pledges to be transparent and will listen to your concerns and answer your questions.
